9 Questions and Answers About Our Worship Service
Our Pastor
Pastor Romell Weekly is the founding
pastor of New Revelation Christian Church. Pastoring this body
since its inception in 2002, he serves the Body in the ministry offices of both Pastor and
Teacher. It is his strong conviction that, in his words, "the power of God's revealed Word
will bring the perfecting that is promised in 2 Tim. 3:16-17".
God has blessed New Revelation Christian Church with a wonderful first lady. In 2000, Pastor
Weekly met the woman he knew he would spend the rest of his life
with - Monique M. Gillespie. In 2003, they committed themselves to
one another in the Lord through Holy Matrimony. From that point
on, God has continued to demonstrate His richest blessings in their lives together.
Pastor Weekly began operating in ministry at the age of fifteen when he appointed as the
minister of music and pianist at his local church. He continued
in music ministry until the spring of 2001, when He resigned from his post to further pursue
his calling in the taught Word (rather than in the sang Word). Many people didn't understand
or agree with that decision; but, God had a different plan. Although gifted musical
ministry, his calling was in the ministry of the Word, specifically as a pastor
and teacher.
Through a continual press upon his spirit, as well as prophetically received words that confirmed
what God had already laid upon his heart, he knew that it was
time to move into the next level of ministry. In 1998, he delivered his pilot sermon. Later,
at the age of 20, he was installed as an elder in the Church and was formally ordained into
that office in 2001, the following year.
Having had experience in the Pentecostal, Baptist, and Inter-denominational churches, he
often wondered why God had ordained his life to have such a wide
array of doctrinally conflicting experiences over such a relatively short period of time. The
word of the Lord came to him, telling him that God was grooming him for his own particular
sphere of ministry.
As a result of that revelation, he began to understand a very important point: Many Christians
are far to one side doctrinally, while many others are far to
the other side. "What I've
found," he says, "is that usually , God is somewhere in the middle; not as though
He compromises or is lukewarm. It's just that in many ways, both
extremes of people have valid Scriptural justification to believe what they believe. They
just don't get the right balance."
It is Pastor Weekly's conviction to deliver a balanced message, one not tainted by tradition,
selfish ambition, popular opinion, or institutional or denominational pressure.
"If God is on one side as pertains to a particular issue, I want to be on that side.
If God is on the other side on a different issue, that's where
I want to be. If He's in the middle, then the middle is my goal. My desire is to always
seek God for the revelation of His Word and then align myself with that Word, and not vice
versa."
